**Product Description:**
The Chiku plant, scientifically known as Manilkara zapota, is a tropical evergreen tree native to Central America. It is widely cultivated for its delicious fruit, also called chiku or sapodilla. Beyond its culinary appeal, the Chiku plant is valued for its ornamental qualities, featuring glossy, dark green leaves and small, bell-shaped flowers that mature into brown fruit with a sweet, caramel-like flavor.

**Plant Care:**
1. **Light:** Chiku plants thrive in full sun to partial shade. They require at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal growth and fruit production.

2. **Watering:** Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water deeply when the top inch of soil feels dry, especially during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce watering in winter, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings.

3. **Soil:** Plant your Chiku in well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. A slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0-7.5) is ideal. Avoid heavy clay soils that retain too much water.

4. **Temperature and Humidity:** Chiku plants prefer warm temperatures between 60-90°F (15-32°C). They are sensitive to frost and prefer humidity levels around 50-60%. If grown in a container, consider bringing indoors in cooler climates.

5. **Fertilization:** Feed your Chiku plant every 4-6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced fertilizer or a formula higher in potassium (K), which promotes fruiting. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application rates.

6. **Pruning:** Regular pruning helps maintain a manageable size and shape, promotes air circulation, and encourages fruit production. Remove dead or diseased branches as needed.

7. **Pollination:** Chiku plants are typically self-pollinating, but to ensure good fruit set, encourage pollinators like bees and butterflies by planting companion flowers nearby.

8. **Pests and Diseases:** Monitor for common pests such as aphids, scale insects, and mealybugs. Treat infestations promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil. Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal diseases.

By providing proper care, your Chiku plant can thrive and potentially reward you with delicious fruit in due time.
